Quickee (or Q) 500 is run to CPPRA rules in Calgary. These are
similar to the AMA 424 Sport Quickee rules, with the main difference
being that the Webra 40 with Nelson mini pipe is the primarily
used motor/muffler option. A complete set of the CPPRA Q500 rules
can be found here.
The
original aim of the Quickee class was to restrict model design
to the simplest possible shape so that beginners could easily
build their own models and compete on equal terms on the basis
of flying ability. The airframes consist of constant chord, constant
thickness wings on a square box fuselage. Whilst certainly not
pretty, these models are functional and provide close, exciting
racing.
